St Edwards Church lawns are the venue for the first performances of ‘The Shaftsbury Tales’ on July 11th and 12th at 7pm. The full program comprises a number of plays held at venues positioned along St Edwards Way and explores the story of Edward the Martyr’s murder in 978AD plus the events that followed. The final ‘Tale’ is performed at St Peters Church, Shaftsbury, Saturday 27th July. Details may be found at Summer 2024 – The Shaftesbury Tales | treehousetheatre
Double Act were invited by Treehouse Theatre to construct and perform a ‘Tale’ in both Corfe’ and Wareham in support of the overall project – which we have done and will do! To quote the Treehouse website, this production is “Inspired by Chaucer, and the terrible fate of teenage King Edward the Martyr in Corfe”; “a mischievous peek into life 1000 years ago” is promised.
Please come and join in at the Double Act launch of this amazing walking Tale at Corfe Castle’s St Edwards Church, July 11th or 12th at 7pm.
